This Laguiole bread knife with olivewood handle and stainless steel bolsters is made in the village of Espalion in France in the historical area of origin of the Laguiole knife.

The blade is made of 12C27MOD stainless steel, with a high hardness, offering an exceptional cutting tenacity and an excellent resistance to corrosion.

The bread knife is the only kitchen knife that is serrated because the pressure of the blade is concentrated on the ends of the teeth, allowing them to easily penetrate the hard crust without crushing the bread while cutting.

Due to the unique nature of handle materials, yours may differ slightly from the one pictured above.

Olivewood has been used to make knife handles for hundreds of years. It has a golden yellow color, nicely shaded and a knotty or linear pattern. Olive wood is very hard and dense.

Olive trees are known for their slow growth in generally barren, dry soil which makes olive wood very dense and hard - harder than any other type of wood native to Europe.

The irregular branch shape of the olive tree gives the wood very special properties: the knotty shape creates a typical individual pattern that varies from tree to tree.
