In France, the Laguiole en Aubrac manufacture shapes wood, horn, bone or mammoth ivory into handles left unvarnished so they develop their patina. Blades and springs come from its own forge in Montézic, then a single cutler takes each knife through to the end, from the chiseling to the final fitting by eye.

Contractual terms

General terms and conditions of sale

Last updated: November 2026

These terms and conditions of sale are entered into, on the one hand, by Laguiole Export, a SASU with a share capital of €500, whose registered office is at 1B rue Mornay, 75004 Paris, France, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 832 161 392, EU VAT number FR 38 832 161 392, hereinafter “Laguiole Export” or “the Seller”, which operates the website laguiole.store, and, on the other hand, by any natural or legal person wishing to make a purchase through the website laguiole.store, hereinafter “the Buyer”.

Article 1. Purpose

These terms and conditions of sale define the contractual relationship between Laguiole Export and the Buyer and the conditions applicable to any purchase made through the website laguiole.store. Purchasing a product through this website implies the Buyer’s unreserved acceptance of these terms and conditions of sale, which the Buyer acknowledges having read before placing the order. Before any transaction, the Buyer declares, firstly, that the purchase of products on laguiole.store is not directly related to their professional activity and is limited to strictly personal use and, secondly, that they have full legal capacity to commit to these general terms and conditions of sale.

Laguiole Export may amend these terms and conditions of sale at any time in order to comply with any new regulations or to improve the use of its website. Accordingly, the terms applicable are those in force on the date of the Buyer’s order.

Article 2. Products

The products offered are those shown on the website laguiole.store operated by Laguiole Export, while stocks last. Laguiole Export reserves the right to change its range of products at any time. Each product is presented on the website with a description of its main technical characteristics (dimensions, use, materials, etc.). Photographs are as faithful as possible but are not binding on the Seller, given the origin of the materials and the handcrafted nature of the manufacturing. The products offered on laguiole.store are intended for all buyers residing in countries that fully authorize the import of these products into their territory.

Article 3. Prices

The prices shown on the product pages of the online catalog are in euros (€), all taxes included, taking into account the VAT applicable on the day of the order. Any change in the VAT rate may be reflected in the price of the products. Laguiole Export reserves the right to change its prices at any time, it being understood that the price shown in the catalog on the day of the order is the only price applicable to the Buyer. Prices shown in other currencies are for information only: payment is always made in euros.

The prices shown do not include delivery charges, which are invoiced in addition to the price of the products purchased. Delivery to the United States by DHL costs €26. Rates for other destinations are shown on our Delivery and payment methods page and calculated at checkout. We make no profit on delivery. Laguiole Export reserves the right to change these rates in line with changes in carriers’ rates.

Orders delivered outside the European Union may be subject to import duties and taxes, depending on the regulations of the destination country, collected by the carrier before or upon delivery. These charges are not included in our prices and are payable by the Buyer.

Article 4. Ordering and payment

Delivery tracking is managed by email and by notifications from the carrier selected by the Buyer. By choosing a carrier when placing the order, the Buyer agrees that their contact details (postal address, email, telephone number) are passed on to that carrier solely for the purpose of delivery. For any question about how carriers use your data, please consult their respective privacy policies.

If a parcel is shown as delivered by the carrier but has not been received, the Buyer has 48 hours to make a claim with our customer service so that we can open a claim with the carrier concerned.

Accepted payment methods

Secure payment by debit or credit card (through Payplug) or by PayPal. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also offered at checkout. The Buyer selects the products they wish to order in the cart, changes them if necessary (quantities, references, etc.), checks the delivery address or enters a new one. The delivery charges and the name of the carrier are calculated and shown to the Buyer. The Buyer then chooses their preferred payment method. The next step invites the Buyer to check all the information, read and accept these general terms and conditions of sale by ticking the corresponding box, then to confirm the order by clicking the order confirmation button. The Buyer is then redirected to the secure payment interface to enter their payment details securely. If the payment is accepted, the order is recorded and the contract is definitively concluded. By ticking the box accepting these general terms and conditions of sale before confirming and paying for the order, the Buyer expressly and unreservedly accepts this contract in its entirety, in particular the clauses excluding the right of withdrawal for personalized and made-to-order products (Article 6).

Payment by card or PayPal account is irrevocable. In the event of fraudulent use of their card, the Buyer may request cancellation of the payment; the sums paid will then be credited or refunded. The cardholder is not liable if the disputed payment is proven to have been made fraudulently, remotely, without physical use of the card. To obtain a refund of the fraudulent debit and of any bank charges it may have caused, the cardholder must dispute the debit in writing with their bank within 70 days of the transaction, or 120 days if their contract with the bank provides for it. The amounts debited are refunded by the bank within a maximum of one month after receipt of the cardholder’s written dispute. No charge may be made to the cardholder for the refund of the sums.

Confirming an order entails acceptance of these terms and conditions of sale, acknowledgement of full knowledge of them and waiver of any reliance on the Buyer’s own terms of purchase. All the data provided and the confirmation recorded will serve as proof of the transaction. Laguiole Export will confirm by email that the order has been recorded, at the email address provided by the Buyer.

To contact Laguiole Export: by post at 1B rue Mornay, 75004 Paris, France, or through our contact form.

Article 5. Retention of title

Laguiole Export retains full ownership of the products sold until the price has been paid in full, including principal, charges and taxes.

Article 6. Right of withdrawal

(1) In accordance with Articles L221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, the Buyer has fourteen (14) calendar days from receipt of their order to exercise their right of withdrawal, without having to give reasons or pay penalties. To exercise this right, the Buyer may use the withdrawal form annexed to these terms and conditions or any unambiguous statement expressing their decision to withdraw, sent through our contact form or by post to the registered office.

(1a) Online withdrawal. In accordance with French Ordinance No. 2026-2 of 5 January 2026, a dedicated feature allows the Buyer to exercise their right of withdrawal directly online, free of charge, throughout the fourteen (14) day period. It is permanently available through the “Withdraw from contract” link in the footer of the website, and at laguiole.store/withdraw-from-contract. The Buyer identifies their order, confirms their request and immediately receives a time-stamped acknowledgement of receipt at the email address they provided. This feature is in addition to the methods set out in paragraph (1) and does not replace them.

The Buyer must return the product in its original, complete condition (packaging, accessories, certificate of authenticity) within a maximum of 14 days after communicating their decision to withdraw. Return costs are borne by the Buyer.

In the event of withdrawal, Laguiole Export will refund the price of the product and the initial delivery charges (at the standard rate) within 14 days of receiving the returned product or the Buyer’s proof of shipment, whichever is earlier. We kindly ask you to choose your product carefully when you buy it.

(2) A product may be exchanged if it does not meet the Buyer’s expectations. The costs of the exchange (shipping both ways) are borne by the Buyer, unless we decide otherwise.

(3) Exclusion of the right of withdrawal for personalized products.

Engraving is offered free of charge on our products. In accordance with Article L221-28 3° of the French Consumer Code, any product that has been personalized with engraving (name, initials, text, symbol chosen by the Buyer) is considered clearly personalized and can be neither exchanged nor refunded. This exclusion was confirmed by the French Court of Cassation in its judgment of 17 January 2018. A spelling mistake in the engraving text, where it results from the Buyer’s own entry, cannot give rise to an exchange or refund.

(4) Natural materials. Handle materials are 100% natural in origin (wood, horn, bone, etc.). Variations in color, grain or texture are inherent to these materials and are a characteristic of the product, not a defect. Each product page carries a notice stating that the photograph is representative but does not guarantee the exact color or grain you will receive, owing to the 100% natural origin of the handle material, although it will be as close as possible to one of the photographs. By confirming their order, the Buyer acknowledges having read this information.

(5) Made-to-order products. Some products are made to order by the manufacture according to the Buyer’s specifications. A manufacturing time of 2 to 4 weeks is shown on each product page concerned and in the order summary sent by email. In accordance with Article L221-28 3° of the French Consumer Code, these products, made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalized, are excluded from the right of withdrawal as soon as the order is confirmed and can be neither cancelled nor refunded.

Article 7. Delivery

Deliveries are made to the address given on the order form, which can only be within the agreed geographical area. Orders are shipped by DHL Express, or by Colissimo (La Poste) for deliveries to France, with tracking and delivery against signature, according to the Buyer’s choice. Laguiole Export will send the Buyer the parcel tracking number by email. If the Buyer is absent, they will receive a delivery notice allowing them to collect the parcel according to the procedures of the chosen carrier.

The Buyer must check the condition of the packaging and its contents on delivery. In the event of damage during transport, any complaint must be made to the carrier within three (3) days of delivery, and reported at the same time to Laguiole Export through our contact form.

Article 8. Liability

Laguiole Export undertakes to use all necessary means to ensure the proper fulfilment of orders and the security of transactions on its website. It cannot be held liable for inconvenience or damage inherent in the use of the Internet, in particular a service interruption, an external intrusion or the presence of computer viruses, where these events are not directly attributable to it.

Article 9. Intellectual property

All elements of the website laguiole.store are and remain the exclusive intellectual property of Laguiole Export. No one is authorized to reproduce, exploit or use in any capacity whatsoever, even partially, any element of the website, whether in the form of a photograph, logo, visual or text. For more details, please see our Intellectual property rights page.

Article 10. Personal data

Laguiole Export undertakes to keep the information provided by the Buyer confidential. In accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and the amended French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978, the Buyer has the right to access, rectify, erase, port, restrict and object to the processing of their personal data. When a withdrawal request is submitted online, the date, time, email address and IP address of the request are kept as proof and for handling the request, on the basis of the Seller’s legitimate interest. To exercise these rights, the Buyer may contact us through our contact form or by post at: 1B rue Mornay, 75004 Paris, France. For more details, please see our Privacy policy.

Article 11. Guarantees

(1) Legal guarantees. Independently of any commercial guarantee, the Buyer benefits from the following legal guarantees:

  • Legal guarantee of conformity (Articles L217-3 to L217-20 of the French Consumer Code): the Buyer has two (2) years from receipt of the goods to take action. During the first twenty-four (24) months, the Buyer does not have to prove that the defect existed at the time of delivery. In the event of a lack of conformity, the Buyer may choose between repair or replacement of the goods, subject to the cost conditions provided for by law.
  • Guarantee against hidden defects (Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code): the Buyer may take action within two (2) years of discovering the hidden defect.

(2) Manufacturer’s commercial guarantee. Laguiole en Aubrac products carry a lifetime guarantee against any manufacturing defect, granted by the Laguiole en Aubrac manufacture. This guarantee does not cover damage resulting from use that does not correspond to the product’s intended purpose. Only products purchased on laguiole.store are handled by Laguiole Export under this commercial guarantee. For products purchased from another retailer, the Buyer is invited to contact their point of sale or the manufacture directly.

(3) The Buyer is invited to check the condition and conformity of the product on receipt and to report any visible defect to us as soon as possible. Failure to report a visible defect does not affect the Buyer’s rights under the legal guarantees.

(4) Only the information and descriptions on laguiole.store and the manufacturer’s official documentation are deemed to define the qualities of the product. Any purchase made on this website at a price different from that charged on another website or in a shop cannot give rise to a claim for compensation.

(5) In the event of a defect covered by the guarantee, Laguiole Export will, at its discretion, repair or replace the product. If repair or replacement proves impossible or disproportionate, the Buyer may request a price reduction or termination of the contract, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

Article 12. Mediation and dispute resolution

(1) These distance selling terms and conditions are governed by French law. For consumers residing in another country, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive the consumer of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of habitual residence.

(2) The provisions of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods do not apply.

(3) Consumer mediation. In accordance with Articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, in the event of a dispute relating to an order placed on laguiole.store, the Buyer may, after first contacting our customer service, refer the matter free of charge to the following consumer mediator:

SAS Médiation Solution

sasmediationsolution-conso.fr

(4) For any dispute not covered by mediation, the competent court shall be that of Paris, France.

The ManufactureLaguiole en Aubrac, FranceDiscover the manufacture →
In France, the Laguiole en Aubrac manufacture shapes wood, horn, bone or mammoth ivory into handles left unvarnished so they develop their patina. Blades and springs come from its own forge in Montézic, then a single cutler takes each knife through to the end, from the chiseling to the final fitting by eye.
