“Amber Hive” is a single, unrepeatable Laguiole knife, crafted from start to finish by the most experienced hands at Laguiole en Aubrac. Its handle of stabilized maple burl glows a deep honey yellow, rippled with bands of light and dotted with small dark knots that set a beat across the surface. That amber color is the work of the resin stabilization; left untreated, maple ranges from cream to pale beige. Under a deep polish, the figure flares and dims by turns as the hand rotates, rolling like honey fresh from the jar.

Perched where the spring begins, the bee holds the post of honor, and its geometric styling is the first thing you notice. Each wing is faceted into grained panels edged with crisp lines. Below them the ringed body lines up even segments, and the finely striated head catches the light in quick sparks.
